Fallen Angels – World in Decay

There have been far too many bands that have attempted to create their own renditions of the famous thrash that was rampant in the 80s, and the vast majority of those bands fail miserably. But here is Fallen Angels and their new album “World in Decay” that shows that thrash isn’t dead yet and this US band is the cultivation of decades of awesome thrash bands influencing this band to create an amazing thrash album. Everything down to the rhythm of the vocals and the melody of the guitars and drums show that Fallen Angels have truly heard and know … Continue reading Fallen Angels – World in Decay

Speedwhore – The Future Is Now

Thrash has been around since the very beginning of when metal first developed its first sub-genres which means that it has been subject to an infinite number of fans who wanted to take their own unique style, and Speedwhore is no different if you can’t tell from their name. Their new album, “The Future Is Now”, borders on being speed metal but it just manages to stay within the territory of normal thrash with the speed of the guitars being impressively fast but not quite fast enough. The beginning track is also a lot slower than what you’d expect from … Continue reading Speedwhore – The Future Is Now

Nightbreed (self-titled)

Thrash metal has always been an oddball with so many bands trying to add so many different versions of the same sound while adding their own spice. Several have infused thrash with death, black, power, and even folk metal to bring a little extra into the mix. Nightbreed, however, is just straight thrash bringing back the speed that was known to be brutal back in the 80s and such when thrash metal ruled over every single metal scene that there was to be had. Their self-titled debut isn’t the fastest thrash I’ve ever heard in my life but it wasn’t … Continue reading Nightbreed (self-titled)

White Mantis – Fukkin’ Demo

As I enter into the third straight day of listening to new thrash metal, I’ve come to the conclusion that there are plenty of good thrash metal bands out there. Some are fast. Some are raw. Some are both. White Mantis is both. Their debut album, “Fukkin’ Demo”, is, as you might’ve guessed from the album’s cover art, here to only punch faces and leave your sorry ass in the dust to wonder what the fuck just happened. Now I’m not sure if this is an actual demo as it sounds like it’s gone through the studio and been through tuning and … Continue reading White Mantis – Fukkin’ Demo

Mortal Peril – Walking on Hellish Trails

You know those special kinds of thrash metal bands that the moment you hear the first songs begin you wouldn’t be surprised if you found yourself immediately part of a mosh pit that formed out of nowhere? That’s what Mortal Peril is. This is a band that has the perfectly exact sound that is made for live performances. Each track off of their latest album “Walking on Hellish Trails” was an amazing track of thrash metal done completely right with the only thing to be thought of from the band is how fast they can play and how badass they can … Continue reading Mortal Peril – Walking on Hellish Trails

Cyrence – The Hospital

Oh, thrash metal. The genre headed by Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, blah, blah blah, and blah. We’ve all heard it infinite amounts of times before. It’s been an overused and overpopulated genre with bands trying to replicate what shouldn’t be copied in order to gain fame and a quick buck. But thankfully, there are always a few bands who are here to just make good music and here is one such band. Cyrence has brought post-apocalyptic thrash metal in such a that will have a great sound to any sort of thrash metal fan, it should did for me! … Continue reading Cyrence – The Hospital

No Man’s Throne – Revealed in Ruin

Usually when you see an album cover like that the first thought you have isn’t normally “that looks like a good thrash metal album!”, but more of a “what the hell is this?” But as you might have guessed by now, that first one is true because this debut album from No Man’s Throne is nothing to scoff at when it comes down to good thrash metal. “Revealed In Ruin” is a very well done album by a band that clearly knows what kind of sound they want and how to do it expertly. This entire album is fast, loud, … Continue reading No Man’s Throne – Revealed in Ruin

Dissector – Grey Anguish

This new album from the tiny, tiny Russian band Dissector is literally like seeing the treasure amongst the junk. “Grey Anguish” is a death/thrash metal piece that is definitely worth listening to because it’s got all that you want from that kind of metal other than the face that is doesn’t have a voice so deep it would cause scorpions to explode. But other than that, Dissector has pretty much hit the nail right on the head with this album because it has an amazing sound to it that I really enjoyed simply because it was done very well and … Continue reading Dissector – Grey Anguish

Dark Void – Release the Kraken

Never thought I’d hear such an admirable debut EP from a band who’s average age is only 17. Oh well! First time for everything and I’m very glad that Dark Void’s upcoming “Release the Kraken” was that first! This album begins with a very well done acoustic guitar that leads into the thrash that this album portrays extremely well. The blistering speed of the guitars are the obvious results of musicians with great talent listening to bands like Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer for many years and then deciding to make a legend of their own, and their path to glory … Continue reading Dark Void – Release the Kraken

Meridius – Speed Kills (single)

Coming from Canadian thrash metallers Meridius, “Speed Kills” off of the band’s upcoming self-titled EP is a fast piece of work, as is expected with thrash metal. The single has this real quick, raw sound to it that when you catch some of the lyrics really catches your dreams and slowly twists them into nightmares that will stay with you for the entire song and surely will for the entire 3-track EP when it drops on March 20th. The feel of the song also appeals to us thrash fans who like the speed and the vocals that are fast and … Continue reading Meridius – Speed Kills (single)
