Shadowspawn (band)

While Shadowspawn doesn’t have a legitimate album out yet, they have out a demo that contains 4 songs that bring only good news for the band’s future. All four songs have a nice brutal sound to them that will surely get some people out there going nuts no problem. The raw feel to this demo is one that I’m sure will carry over into their first EPs and later on their first full length album which I’ve no doubt at the moment that they’ll be a pretty good first step for Shadowspawn in the metal world on their trek to … Continue reading Shadowspawn (band)

The Apparition – In Ruins (single)

As the debut single from The Apparition’s upcoming EP “Glass Eyes”, “In Ruins” is what the band said that they “created this EP to show what we have been working and the direction of the band and for bigger things to come.” That’s as good a reason as any for me! And this new EP is shaping up to be a good one judging from how “In Ruins” is (here’s a secret : it’s pretty fucking good). The single is definitely a combination of death metal and thrash metal with the vocals having a deep tone to them and everything else being fast paced … Continue reading The Apparition – In Ruins (single)

Lelahell – Al Insane... The (Re)Birth Of Abderrahmane

First off, let’s just call this album “Al Insane” for short. Second, I didn’t even know Algeria had any metal bands. I guess you really do learn something new everyday. Now this is also a death metal album, and a good death metal album at that. “Al Insane” does a really good job at having an overwhelming sense of hatred and anger that comes across very easily and stays in each tracks which gives the whole album a feel of pure rage that’s always there 100% of the time. The vocals have a harsh and extremely brutal sound to them … Continue reading Lelahell – Al Insane... The (Re)Birth Of Abderrahmane

Gentrification – Deviance

German metal! I know. . . the first band that (usually) comes to your mind is Rammstein. Now while Rammstein are considered the leading band for all German metal groups, that definitely does not mean there are bands that can’t challenge Rammstein for best German metal band. And right here is an excellent candidate for that is no other than Gentrification. Their debut album “Deviance” is an amazing work of death and thrash metal that basically had a kid and that kid was “Deviance”. While this album is over all a hardcore mixture of those two genres, the band thought … Continue reading Gentrification – Deviance

Incite – Up In Hell

Told you I was going to be back with this album! Didn’t believe me? Well, fuck you (kidding). And thankfully, “Up In Hell” was better than I thought it was going to be. I thought it was going to be reminiscent of Wretched’s “Cannibal”, and it was in some way but not completely. It was a really solid album, though. As Incite’s third album to be released, the vocalist, Richie Cavalera, commented on Metal Injection that they replaced their drummer and bassist and that “they brought a much more “raging” vibe to the music”. That’s always good news! More rage, … Continue reading Incite – Up In Hell

Incite – Up In Hell + Fallen (singles)

While the full version of Incite’s upcoming album “Up In Hell” doesn’t release until September 2nd, the band has been kind enough as to put up 2 of the tracks from the album up onto soundcloud, “Up In Hell” and “Fallen”. Both are very well done in my opinion because they have a nice hardcore sound to them that really goes along with the brutal raw feel of the guitars. The vocals have an incredible sound and feel also because the singer really throws all of his hate and frustration into how he sings and that makes each lyric sound … Continue reading Incite – Up In Hell + Fallen (singles)

Soulnerve – The Dying Light

If melodic thrash metal wasn’t a thing before it certainly is now. Best part about how Soulnerve has created this new combo genre is that I thought that the thrash would be good because I love thrash metal, but I’m usually not amazed by melodic metal but when Soulnerve combined the two. . . my brain. . . melted. It sounded so good. I just cannot tell you how fucking good it sounds! I’m just really sad now because you can’t buy it off of iTunes or listen to it on Spotify, and I’m very tempted to buy the CD copy from the band’s … Continue reading Soulnerve – The Dying Light

Varga – Return of the Metal

I saw “thrash metal” as this album’s genre so of course I went straight for it! I also imagined that Varga would attempt to make their thrash sound like 80s thrash. It was a solid attempt, but they didn’t succeed in really tapping to the core of original thrash. However, they did manage to make some good sounding thrash overall. The vocals had that 80s “charm” to them with dark lyrics that’ll get the people who like the darker side of metal going. The guitars were (of course) fast paced and they had a really good rhythm the whole album … Continue reading Varga – Return of the Metal

Dust Bolt – Awake the Riot

German-born metal bands always have their moments. Sometimes, these moments are rare and don’t come quick enough for some people. But for others, such as myself, are able to wait for the day when a good German metal band pushes out an album that sounds great. Apparently, the latest of these flew under my radar last week and I physically did a double take when I saw this album. I never heard Dust Bolt’s first album, but I’ve heard good things so. . . fuck it, right? This band is full of energy. And I mean a lot. That’s an essential … Continue reading Dust Bolt – Awake the Riot
