Synodik – A Matter Of Perception

For those of you who don’t even know how to imagine atmospheric metal let me explain it to you like this : it’s basically your normal metal pertaining to whatever sub-genre the band specializes in with the added sound of whatever other instruments the band thinks compliments the metal at certain points whether it be a piano, violin, or anything else they come up with. I could definitely tell that there were some of those kinds of instruments used in Synodik’s upcoming album “A Matter Of Perception” and they actually worked really, really well. The albums consists of only three … Continue reading Synodik – A Matter Of Perception

Vomitile – Mastering the Art of Killing

There are albums out there who cater to the true fans of each genre. Metalcore has Killswitch Engage and others. Thrash metal has (old) Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, etc. Vomitile from the small country Cyprus is now one of those for the true hardcore death metal fans. “Mastering the Art of Killing” is an amazing death metal album that really does a great job at hearkening back to the pure old school death metal, but with a few melodic additions while not having it become overpowering. The album has a truly raw sound and feel to it that is expressed … Continue reading Vomitile – Mastering the Art of Killing

The Vicious Head Society – Abject Tomorrow (single)

As Vicious Head Society’s single from (what I’ve gathered) their debut album that is coming sometime early 2015 so we got some time to imagine what it’ll be like. The album’s name hasn’t even been announced yet so all we have is this single, “Abject Tomorrow”, to guess at what it’ll be like. And right now it’s looking to be pretty damn good. The single itself is over 8 minutes long so maybe this’ll be an album for those of you who can’t get enough of the really long songs. “Abject Tomorrow” also has a certain smooth sound to it … Continue reading The Vicious Head Society – Abject Tomorrow (single)

Incite – Up In Hell + Fallen (singles)

While the full version of Incite’s upcoming album “Up In Hell” doesn’t release until September 2nd, the band has been kind enough as to put up 2 of the tracks from the album up onto soundcloud, “Up In Hell” and “Fallen”. Both are very well done in my opinion because they have a nice hardcore sound to them that really goes along with the brutal raw feel of the guitars. The vocals have an incredible sound and feel also because the singer really throws all of his hate and frustration into how he sings and that makes each lyric sound … Continue reading Incite – Up In Hell + Fallen (singles)

Digitalife – Nemesis

Despite all the song names being in English all the songs are sung in Spanish. At least I think it’s Spanish. But there’s nothing wrong with that; I’ve done reviews for albums that were 100% Spanish. So unfortunately I can’t take the lyrics themselves as a factor for this review (since I can’t understand them) but I can take the tone of the vocals instead which works just as well. While everything about this album definitely falls under the metalcore genre including the vocals, guitars, drums, and tone of the vocals, there was also a noticeable techno influence. Now I … Continue reading Digitalife – Nemesis

Interview with A Breach of Silence’s Mat Cosgrove

First off, let me thank you and A Breach of Silence for taking time to read all these questions. Love the work so this is a real honor.   “The Darkest Road” was a fucking great album especially the tone and direction you took it. How did you guys come up with that? What is the story behind that? Thank you.   The tone was something we learnt off the first album.   We had a very good idea what amps and other gear we wanted to use to achieve the tone we wanted.  That being an EVH 111 used as the … Continue reading Interview with A Breach of Silence’s Mat Cosgrove

The Haunted – Cutting Teeth (single)

The latest single from The Haunted’s upcoming album “Exit Wounds” is hardcore right from the start. The song wastes no time in relying on a slow build up to an explosion of metal because the explosion happens at the very beginning. And everything is very well done, too. The vocals have an unrelentingly fast pace to them along with the harsh guitars that don’t let up no matter what part of the song they’re at because every moment should be filled with constant metal as it is. And the drums have a fantastic beat to them that are absolutely raw … Continue reading The Haunted – Cutting Teeth (single)

Ominous (band)

From what I could find, Ominous doesn’t have any form out in the form of an album until the 30th of this month (for Americans at least). But Ominous did inform me about a music player on Facebook that takes their songs from reverbnation.com and allows them to be played on Facebook. Which is fine by me in any case as long as I’m able to actually hear the music. Since Ominous doesn’t have an official album out yet, I’ll just talk about their 5 songs that are available. And in all honesty I cannot place whether Ominous is sludge … Continue reading Ominous (band)

We The Machine – The Scarecrow (single)

Since this is only a single, I’ll make this short and sweet as I always have except. . . well it’ll be more short and more sweet than usual this time. “The Scarecrow” was a nice track and a good enough prelude to We The Machine’s upcoming album “Seasons” because it has several elements that people like me can use and “translate” to gain a glimpse as to what the full album might be like. To me, “Seasons” will be a mix of rock and metal with good vocals, guitars, and drums much like “The Scarecrow” did. The vocals, however, … Continue reading We The Machine – The Scarecrow (single)
