Black metal has never really been my forte, but it has its moments. This is definitely one of those fine moments. As Endzeit’s upcoming EP, “Years of Hunger” will be definitely one to grab for all you black metal fanatics out there who are looking for something new yet familiar to what you know and love. Each song from this album is energetic and really has a literal pulse of its own that never ends until the very end of the album itself. The vicious beat itself will definitely get some of your heads banging in no time and the vocals will assault your ears with no remorse as some, if not most (if not all!), of you listen to this with that volume cranked up as loud as it’ll go. While “Years of Hunger” is only a 5-track album, it makes up for it by having four out of the five of those being over 3 and a half minutes long which the longest stretching over the 6 minute mark. So I think it’s safe to say that Endzeit definitely wanted the awesomeness to last as long as they could reasonably make it. The vocals for this were as black metal vocals are in that they have a harsh, gritty sound to them that really brings out anger and the growling is just great. The guitars have an excellent sound to them that have an unrelenting rhythm and sound that do not hold back the entire time and that makes them even more awesome. And the drums have a great “tap” sound that I really enjoyed along with them having a fantastic beat, pace, and ferocity to them that you can not only hear but feel through the harshness of how they’re been played. “Years of Hunger” is a great black metal EP that releases on September 13, but you can listen to the track that’s the album’s namesake until then for free!
