Despondent – Awakening the Elder Gods

Holy. Fucking. Shit. I should’ve known what I was getting myself into when I simply just saw the band logo which I had a hard time reading. Now before I go any farther, I am normally not a fan of brutal death metal because it’s just too much for me personally in terms of brutality. I’m not saying it’s bad; it’s just not exactly my cup of death metal. But Despondent’s upcoming EP “Awakening the Elder Gods” may just very well be my favorite album of this subgenre. I’m not totally sure why. Maybe it’s because (I’m not saying it … Continue reading Despondent – Awakening the Elder Gods

Dead Alone – Nemesis

This album is probably the most perfect blend of black, death, and doom metal that I have heard recently. My only true lamentations about this album is that the album seems to last a lot longer than its actual run time and I’m more of a fast paced death metal guy, but I suppose I shouldn’t complain about doom metal not being “fast”. But “Nemesis” is a truly good album that I highly recommend to any listeners of the three genres that I’ve already told you about because this album will just rip your face off, and then reattach it with its … Continue reading Dead Alone – Nemesis

Unbibium – The Coming of Gozer

I’m not exactly the biggest fan of deathcore simply because I like my death metal as just death metal and my metalcore as just metalcore. I’m not saying deathcore is bad I just like the two factors of this combo as themselves and not smashed together to make some “fresh, new, and amazing”. But Unbibium’s latest single titled “The Coming of Gozer” is such that at the end of the just over 5 minute song it left me sitting here in my fuckin’ computer chair giving this song a solid thumb up in approval. Now again I don’t exactly find … Continue reading Unbibium – The Coming of Gozer

The Finite Beings – A Life to Come

I am personally not exactly the guy to go to for Christian metal/rock albums since not really a lot of them come across my path and when they do they are sadly sometimes not really noteworthy in my eyes. But the opposite is true for The Finite Beings’ latest album “A Life to Come” which has a great sound to it that can really hypnotize rock and metal listeners alike because this album has the fluid rhythm of a good rock album, and the proper amount of spice for us flexible metal listeners to be able to jam to real … Continue reading The Finite Beings – A Life to Come

Silent Divide – Master of Disguise

It’s honestly rare for me to come across a debut of any sorts, listen to it, and then give it two thumbs up. But Silent’s Divide’s hard rock/alternative metal debut EP “Master of Disguise” has managed to do that! This band is also fronted by a woman who has an amazing voice and just uses it to their advantage by creating a smooth rhythm and awesome soothing sound that go surprisingly great with the guitars that are very melodic and catchy. And if that doesn’t do it for you then the bass has a killer beat to it that creates … Continue reading Silent Divide – Master of Disguise

Putrid Offal – Mature Necropsy

Who knew that goregrind was a thing? Not me, obviously. But Putrid Offal’s upcoming album “Mature Necropsy” is an album that is by far the defining album of a genre and in this case that is goregrind. This album is like a super death punch to the face that then proceeds to slowly peel away your skin and then light you on fire because that’s how this album rolls and it gives a whole zero fucks. None of these songs are really considered long by any standards and that’s awesome because that puts all the brutality and hardcore that the … Continue reading Putrid Offal – Mature Necropsy

Lord Dying – Poisoned Altars

Second album. Second goddamn album. I did not believe it at first when I saw that this was only Lord Dying’s second release because it sounds like they’ve been doing this for a long time with how fucking good “Poisoned Altars” is. When I first saw that cover I thought that this was either going to be a terrible album or an absolute beast, and thankfully it was the latter this time around. The riffs in all these songs made them some of the most catchy and awesome sounding death metal that I’ve heard in a while. This might cross over into … Continue reading Lord Dying – Poisoned Altars

Morgoth – Black Enemy (single)

I’ll be honest it’s been quite some time since I’ve heard some Morgoth and when I heard that they had released a new single it peaked my metalhead interest. It was released today and it’s already gotten some fans riled up and excited for the band’s next album which will be released some time this year. And I myself am quite excited for the album because this single “Black Enemy” is something of the likes that make your ears prick up and your foot start tapping to the brutal beat. “Black Enemy” tells “that this evil force rests within all … Continue reading Morgoth – Black Enemy (single)

Sylosis – Dormant Heart

Sylosis has given us an album that will surely leave some stunned in their seats and others applauding the album and band as I am because of their latest helping of progressive metal called “Dormant Heart” which came out today. I’ll be honest – it didn’t make me shit my pants to any degree, but it was definitely noteworthy and good because the album was jock full of good rhythms and the kind of stuff that progressive metal was founded on during its conception. It also has a dash of thrash metal thrown into the mix to give the album … Continue reading Sylosis – Dormant Heart

Ensiferum – One Man Army (single)

Many of us folk metal fans remember when Ensiferum first released their last album “Unsung Heroes” and how much we fucking loved every part of it and its awesomeness. Well it’s been a few years and Ensiferum has finally reached a good point to them where they can release a new album titled “One Man Army” in good conscious. Now they’ve released a music video today for the title track and I was very excited. I was excited because I, some schmuck on a computer, could only imagine what it was going to be, what it was going to sound … Continue reading Ensiferum – One Man Army (single)
