Crypt Sermon – Out of the Garden

If there was ever a doom metal album that practically made me throw my money at the band through the screen of my computer then this is that album because this – this – album is the epitome of the doom metal genre and is such an album that just stunned me as I reveled in its magnificence. “Out of the Garden” is an absolutely perfectly done album from the cover art to the breath-taking riffs to the vocals that, dare I say, are the Ozzy Osbourne vocals of doom metal with its sound and haunting feel alone that persist the entire … Continue reading Crypt Sermon – Out of the Garden

The Agonist – Eye of Providence

The Agonist’s latest album, “Eye of Providence”, is one of those few amazing examples that progressive metal has come a long way and can be one of the most fucking dynamic albums you’ve ever heard in your life. This female fronted band had a resounding feel to it that I feel like many metal fans can agree with because the harsher vocals had a great sound and feel to them while the softer singing was just absolutely beautiful. The guitars and drums also have a great rhythm to them that are melodic and that’s good for me because I prize … Continue reading The Agonist – Eye of Providence

Acid King – Red River (single)

If I didn’t know that this was a totally different band I would’ve thought that I was listening to Mastodon’s attempt at doom metal, and it wasn’t bad! It was pretty good in fact! “Red River” off of Acid King’s upcoming album “Middle of Nowhere, Center of Everywhere” is an amazing example of doom metal done by someone who knows what the hell they’re doing because just the first minute sounded awesome and it had barely any notes and it had this great sound an rugged feel to it that felt really awesome. I can only imagine what the full … Continue reading Acid King – Red River (single)

Every Hour Kills – Almost Human (single)

Singles, as we all know, are simply preludes to an album which is usually one of the highlights of the album. Well Every Hour Kills’ new single “Almost Human”off their upcoming self-titled EP coming this summer. This song has a great feel to it and anyone who’s listened to the truly higher quality of melodic metal (for example, Disturbed) knows what it feels like to hear the really good shit and its great sound. “Almost Human” has just that. The song has an amazing feel to it that is uplifting and empowering at the same time and it makes you … Continue reading Every Hour Kills – Almost Human (single)

Apostate – Time of Terror

Doom metal is renowned as being slow and heavy as metal comes, and they’re right, but there aren’t a lot of bands that still cling onto that really old school doom that not many remember much less pull off exceedingly well. Apostate has gone back to that lost era and has created an album that brings that era to the present with their 5-track beast of an album “Time of Terror” with its crushing riffs and the combination with death metal gives a real gruesomely harsh texture to the songs that makes them feel much more than 7+ minute songs. … Continue reading Apostate – Time of Terror

Moonspell – Extinct

Moonspell’s upcoming eleventh helping of gothic metal (or dark metal whichever you prefer) that truly tests the boundaries of this genre and is evidence that even after eleven albums this band still has enough fuel to shake the foundations of an entire genre that is sure to reverberate for quite some time. “Extinct” is an explosive album after the first few songs that built up to some really great tracks that a lot of people can sit down and just jam to at any time since there’s plenty of things to enjoy from this album whether it be the raw … Continue reading Moonspell – Extinct

Formis – Mental Survival

Sometimes unknown bands are sometimes the best at what they do. Formis definitely qualifies for that statement because their sophomore album “Mental Survival” is a very, very good album that will have listeners captivated by the commanding songs off of this album and wanting to press the replay button when it’s finally over. Each song off of this 27 minute album is a fast and brutal piece that’ll attract fans of this combo album like I said. My only lament is that it’s not on Spotify. I’d listen to it a lot if that were the case, but I digress. “Mental Survival” … Continue reading Formis – Mental Survival

Tome of the Unreplenished – Innerstanding

I’m not exactly one for atmospheric black metal because I like black metal fast and loud and not slow and calming like a good chunk of Tome of the Unreplenished’s new album “Innerstanding” is. I’m not saying it’s bad because it’s not; it has a quality sound and is very interesting in some points that I enjoyed. But in other parts it was just really slow and with several songs reaching over 5 minutes it just dragged on for an eternity to me which in some cases it’s good but not this one. In no way is this a bad … Continue reading Tome of the Unreplenished – Innerstanding

Evil Invaders – Pulses of Pleasure

Belgian speed metallers Evil Invaders have created a racing album that front to back is catered for those who love them some fucking fast metal that’s aggressively badass. “Pulses of Pleasure” has a literal mind of its own where its aggressive feel and attitude matches that of even Exodus and has a sound that will attract fans of classic thrash with its old school texture to it. Everything about this album is an essential for any speed or thrash metal fan out there today because it has the vocals, the guitars, the raw feel and the cover that fits the … Continue reading Evil Invaders – Pulses of Pleasure

Ensiferum – One Man Army

The behemoths of folk metal have returned with their latest album “One Man Army” and (as I’m sure you may know) it’s pretty fucking awesome especially since it’s a more than worthy follow up to their previously acclaimed album “Unsung Heroes” which was the absolute shit. This album from beginning to end is as hypnotic and awesome as I expected after watching the music video for the title track which was only a prelude to the badassery that was shown in this album. I know for a fact that any fan of Ensiferum (hello!) will enjoy this album to the point … Continue reading Ensiferum – One Man Army
