I would argue that seven years is quite a long stretch of time for anyone to consider. So much can happen and unfold in that time that it’s damn near impossible to truly know what can happen seven years down the line from any point in time, yet that’s a big part of what makes the perseverance of some so interesting and fascinating to witness. For plenty of bands, that can spell disaster. After uncertainty, it’s with their first creation in seven years that LongFallBoots returns to us in sublime fashion.
Every day, none of us can ever truly be sure as to what’s to come next. Be it a tragically unfortunate set of circumstances that continuously align or one moment that offers us a glimmer of hope for a better future, it’s all up in the air lest we take action and try to make something for ourselves. At its core, that’s much of what goes on throughout the three tracks of LongFallBoots’s forthcoming EP, “World of Thieves”. Wreathed in a solid shell of stoner metal that sees plenty of elements of doom and heavy rock come into play, this is a creation that feels downright genuine from the very millisecond you hit play. “World of Thieves” never wastes time in trying to be something grand or bombastic in a way that could’ve ever slipped through the fingers of LongFallBoots. Rather, this English trio sticks to their guns, hearkens back to their roots, and offers us a brief but nonetheless satisfying listen that offers us the glory crunch of well-executed heaviness alongside an emotional core that we can all relate to. Powered by riffs and fueled by tremenoud energy and atmospheres, LongFallBoots knew precisely what they were doing in virutally every aspect to make this EP one that showcases as much promise as it does demonstrate a thrilling power.
This creation feels delightfully down-to-earth. Never once does LongFallBoots miss an opportunity to deliver unto us something that fires on all cylinders, offers the band a magnificent return after a seven-year silence, and assures listeners that this act still has more to say before it finally throws in the towel.
