Moon Destroys – Omni

Perpetually, whether we’re aware of it or not, we’re always looking for the next big thing in whatever scene we’re dealing with. Naturally, that’s an objective that we rarely see accomplished for obvious reasons, but that doesn’t stop us from looking nor from bands simply doing what they will. Eventually, we stumble upon an act which strikes like lightning. Last year, Moon Destroys struck, but the question remained: will lightning strike twice? Just a year later, Moon Destroys now establishes itself as that exceptionally rare act where, against all odds, lightning indeed strikes twice.

It’s not always a guarantee that established talent can deliver further glory in another band, but it’s when we see it done to such an extent like what we witness with Moon Destroys that one’s heart cannot help but flutter after coming before such a spectacular piece. The sheer pedigree of this act speaks for itself many times over, and while it was already with last year’s album, “She Walks by Moonlight”, that we got a proper vision of what this band can become when it truly goes all the way, it has got to be with the eleven tracks of “Omni” that we see Moon Destroys come to us in a form that is simply undeniable from beginning to end. This is the sort of heavy rock that refuses to sit in one place for too long, instead choosing to explore an ephemeral soundscape the likes of which is not easily pinned down by one sound or even a single approach with Moon Destroys more than understanding what’s necessary to capitalize on the overwhelming potential that’s to be had. Evocative from the beginning and downright electrifying even in the record’s smallest moment’s, “Omni” practically has it all. Moon Destroys walks with confidence and capacity in every step with “Omni” offering nothing short of a damn good time for anyone looking for a work of heavy rock that’s as flavorful as it is potent.

While it’s always up in the air as to who will truly defy the odds and become one of the next big things, the thrill of the hunt and the euphoria of watching a band come into their own is something that cannot be easily confined in just a few words nor contained to a single release. Moon Destroy has quickly proven itself to being on track to be one of the faces of their sound should they simply stay the course with “Omni” putting the act just one more step closer to their destiny.

“Omni” releases on September 4th via Blues Funeral Recordings!
