Eleven After – Awake and Dreaming

Eleven After is one of those bands that has fused the two similar yet different genres of rock and metal, and made it so that they can go hand in hand together seamlessly without any faltering while doing so. The band’s style of musical notes that range from normal rock to metal and vocals that stretch across the same bounds makes their music a unique work that I can tell has a “small”, but respectable, amount of fans that can and will grow when they produce more music like they have and introduce it to more and more people who … Continue reading Eleven After – Awake and Dreaming

Corvus – Never Forget

This album by the (as far as I know) relatively unpopular band Corvus was one that had a good pace to it along with vocals that conveyed the lyrics well and delivered them in a way that remained after they had passed. Now while I’ve never heard of Corvus, that didn’t stop me from contacting them on Twitter and asking if they want a review. Why? Simple : because I do reviews for bands and that means doing reviews also for bands I’ve never heard of. If I didn’t follow that sort of code then I wouldn’t have at … Continue reading Corvus – Never Forget

Impuria

This band has some songs with techno sound effects but also rock tunes that give this band a sound that is unique. It’s not really the type of sound that I’d listened to on a normal basis, but it is one that I could listen to every now and again. The band is one of those that seems sort of generic when you look at their style of music in comparison to others. That doesn’t mean they can’t improve a lot and become more popular and separate from the norm. To me, what they’d have to do is become more … Continue reading Impuria

Infuria

I’m not quite exactly sure if this is an EP or just a collection of songs put together by the band. But whatever it is, this little collection of just 6 songs may be short and quick, but they do sound nice. The songs had a tone that was sort of reminiscent to Rage Against the Machine due to the fact that the lyrics were in my face as I listened to them and that gave them a relentless sort of feel to the songs that sounded good. Some of the songs were in Spanish, I think I might be … Continue reading Infuria

Anubis Gate – Horizons

This album by Anubis Gate started off being sort of bland. You know what I mean? The first song didn’t immediately grab my attention, and I sadly thought that the rest of the album would be that way because sometimes the first track can reflect how the rest of the album will play out, I think. But the second track caught my attention a lot more within the first 10 seconds of it playing. From there on out the rest of the tracks slowly, but surely, grew on me and I came to appreciate the sound of their music. The … Continue reading Anubis Gate – Horizons

Footloose Records Special Requests- Crossburner and Trapjaw

I was recently contacted by a UK-based record company called Footloose Records on Twitter. They had asked me if I’d like to listen to and review two EPs from two different bands signed to them: Crossburner and Trapjaw. And naturally I said yes and began listening and downloading once I got the email. After dealing with some very minor complications, I first listened to Crossburner’s self-titled EP. The album was quite nice and heavy. It had several aspects of good heavy metal tracks that could use some tuning and maybe a little bit of refinement ( pretty sure those both … Continue reading Footloose Records Special Requests- Crossburner and Trapjaw

Black Sabbath- 13

Honestly, I’ve never listened to Black Sabbath before. I know all you uber super mega metal fans are gonna be yelling at the stream “What the fuck man?! Never heard Black Sabbath?! The fuck is wrong with you?!” And fair enough. It’s been one of those bands for me that I’ve always been meaning to listen to but I’ve never gotten around to it. Then I remembered the other day seeing that they released a new album a few months ago, and I thought this would be a great opportunity to listen to them. And it was. I didn’t realize … Continue reading Black Sabbath- 13

Leatherneck- Dust & Memories

This EP by Leatherneck is a 3-track album that would be called rock at its softest moments. The UK-formed band surprised me to be honest. I didn’t think I would get something like this in an EP. The guitars are so good it’ll be able to attract all types of rock fans (and at least some metal bands) to the sound of the guitars mixed with the drums and the singer’s lyrics that carry a certain weight to them. Though some people might listen to them and say, “Well their last track isn’t appealing to me. That’s a bunch of bullshit … Continue reading Leatherneck- Dust & Memories

Unparalleled Height

This album by Unparalleled Height was a heavy album that sounded familiar but different at the same time. It sounded remotely like Avenged Sevenfold (A7X for short, for those who don’t know), but this band’s style is heavier most of the time and it has enough screaming that it made this album very nice to listen to. It was heavy but it was also (I don’t want to say soft because that’d be a lie) not heavy enough as to repel people who do not particularly like metal and keep them interested if they can find the rhythm and like it. … Continue reading Unparalleled Height
