Victim of Illusion – Oxideyes

Victim of Illusion is a progressive rock band that does just what you’d expect from a progressive rock band. They have a calm, but upbeat, tone and sound in their new album “Oxideyes” that does the band a lot of justice to those rock lovers who just like that smooth sound to it that can also have an edge to it but still sounding great to their ears. I can see someone just going down the freeway in their car alone tapping the side of their car to the beat of this album. I don’t know about you, but I … Continue reading Victim of Illusion – Oxideyes

We Are the Catalyst – Monuments

In the email that came with the private link to We Are the Catalyst’s upcoming album “Monuments” also came quotes from respected and know metal magazines and Terry Nails (ex Ozzy Osbourne). These quotes gave me an idea what to expect, obviously, but there was one that made me particularly excited. Terry Nails’ of all the quotes, believe it or not. “Simply stunning, more over than Evanescence”. Well I’ve never really liked Evanescence so I thought this be a big fucking slam dunk for me. And I was right. The unreleased album is really well done in that it is … Continue reading We Are the Catalyst – Monuments

Blowsight – Life & Death

Before I get things started, let me take a moment and thank my new friends over at Eclipse Records for the unique access to their music for me alone to hear and enjoy for the time being. And I also realize that this album was released more than a year ago, but I’m willing to make an exceptional this time not only as a favor for Eclipse, but also because I liked “Life & Death” quite a lot after listening to it. I’m also placing this review under both the “Metal Reviews” and “Rock Reviews” categories because this is probably … Continue reading Blowsight – Life & Death

Black Hare – Seasons

“Seasons” was a smooth flowing album that had plenty of good sounds and had songs that you could listen to at just about any time of day, and I imagine anyone else with you wouldn’t have a problem with that either. This is one of those albums that is universally accepted as good and many people will listen to it. Some may not even remember what the album or even the band was, but that won’t prevent them from enjoying either. The vocals range from either a calm, smooth and sort of relaxed to something that would normally be in … Continue reading Black Hare – Seasons

Rain May Fall – Where It Began

“Where It Began” was a rock album. I don’t mean to say that as “oh, it was a rock album that’s it nothing else”. I mean to say it in a way that I’m placing it among albums that define their genre and have done a good job doing so, and that is what Rain May Fall has done here. They have taken their unused talents and morphed them into a 4-track EP that I think completely expresses what the musical genre of rock is all about in today’s world. They use catchy riffs that can and will draw the … Continue reading Rain May Fall – Where It Began

Sabaton – Heroes

When you hear “Sabaton” and you know of them, what do you think first before anything else? For me it’s that distinguishing and unique accent of the vocalist who has done a great job in this band. And this album was no exception. Although I’ve never really been a “fan” of Sabaton, I do admire their work, style, and how they plan out some of their albums. “Heroes” was by far my most favorite album from this band because they had the same war theme that they’ve had for a while which they’ve been pulling off exceedingly well, especially in … Continue reading Sabaton – Heroes

Rat Neck (band)

Rat Neck has a raw feel and sound to it that not many bands are capable of pulling off while stilling being able to sound good. To my knowledge, the last band that was able to have this raw feeling while attracting throngs of fans was Rage Against the Machine. We can all agree that Rage had a very raw sound that stuck for many years and was still able to bring thousands of millions of people worldwide to buy their albums at every single release with the anticipation that that one will be as fantastic as the previous one, … Continue reading Rat Neck (band)

(Revision) The Outlaws of Zen – Death in the Afternoon

“Death In the Afternoon” was good when I first listened to it, and it still is to no end. The Outlaws of Zen took an approach on this 6-track album that greatly has those gritty elements of rock and smashed it together with metal that can attract all types of people who enjoy any sort of music that is close to that (terrible description, I know). They have a tone so razor sharp that I can compare it to a steak knife, and the knife would seem blunt compared to some of the tracks of “Death In the Afternoon”. However, … Continue reading (Revision) The Outlaws of Zen – Death in the Afternoon

Die So Fluid – Opposites of Light (FULL ALBUM)

Ever forget something, and then sit there one day and think that there’s something important you’re forgetting? That’s what I thought earlier today. “Shit. . .  there’s something I should’ve done by now. . . but I don’t know what.” And then it dawned on me and I went “Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!” I’ve been looking forward to the full version of this album for weeks and I forgot that it came out Tuesday! How dumb is that?! I frantically went on a finally listened to this 16 track 60+ minute album. . . and the wait and me calling myself … Continue reading Die So Fluid – Opposites of Light (FULL ALBUM)

(Revision) Alice Sweet Alice – Ribbons and Stone

I figured that since my list of albums to review has run dry, I might as well redo past reviews that I’ve done before the creation of the website so that the reviews can be properly done this time with more detail and description (pretty sure those have the same meaning). And I also figured what better band to do than Alice Sweet Alice, whom I’ve had contacted several times within the last few weeks. During this time we’ve exchanged information about their music, especially since I had the desire to post up their album “Ribbons and Stone” on YouTube … Continue reading (Revision) Alice Sweet Alice – Ribbons and Stone
