Devilstrip – Rise

Devilstrip’s upcoming hard rock album “Rise” really hearkens to original hard rock in that it really doesn’t hover between rock, hard rock, and some form of metal. It just stays hard rock, and good sounding hard rock to boot. Everything was all nice and smooth but it always had that razor sharp edge that all hard rock fans have loved since its creation. “Rise” is very well rounded with good vocals, solid guitars, and drums that just have an excellent pace especially for their genre and that makes the songs sound all the more better. Fortunately, you can all understand what … Continue reading Devilstrip – Rise

1 In Five – Hold On EP

Tell you what. . . I really like some nice flowing rock music with good tunes and a nice beat. 1 In Five had all of that. Personally I thought the opening track “Something In The Water” was the best and it really set the tone for the rest of “Hold On”. The entire EP had a nice flow to it and sounded really nice. Each band member did a real good job and  staying as rock as possible and that made each song sound like a true rock song which I haven’t seen for a little while so it’s … Continue reading 1 In Five – Hold On EP

Get Stoked – Washington Street

This album was classified as “pop rock” but. . . eh. . . sounds like normal rock n roll if you ask me, but I’m not the one who came up with the genre names so whatever. “Washington Street” is an album that all the casual rock lovers will like I’ve no doubt and it’s a nice switch for someone like me who listens to metalcore, death metal, nu metal, and thrash metal on an almost 24/7 basis. The album is a smooth piece of work that has a really nice sound to it that can be listened to in … Continue reading Get Stoked – Washington Street

Diet – Palindrome

“Palindrome” was an overall smooth album that was certainly alternative and certainly grunge at times. Diet manages to have a good mix of guitars, vocals, and drums that can pull off a nice flowing song that if I were to play it it would be on a calm drive or when I just wanna kick back and relax with some soft music. The vocals were smooth and had a calming sound to them that I’m sure most anyone could listen to any day unless they’re not into this sort of music. The guitars have good rhythm and pace throughout the … Continue reading Diet – Palindrome

In Search of Sun – The World Is Yours

In Search of Sun’s upcoming album “The World Is Yours” is a really nice sounding album that bounces between the metal and rock genres and that gives it a really interesting sound that I know a lot of people (including myself) can enjoy no matter what as long as it sounds right. And this album definitely sounded right. The vocals have a sound that you just can’t go wrong with no matter what genre you prefer because those are the kind that are universally listened to by everyone. They have a very smooth sound to them that’s also rhythmic in a way … Continue reading In Search of Sun – The World Is Yours

Lost In A Name – A Silence In Static

Sometimes less really is more. When I read in an email that Lost In A Name was a 2-man group you can only imagine how much that made my head turn. I’ve done a review for a one man band so this wasn’t as odd sounding as that but it still sounded odd nonetheless. “A Silence In Static” doesn’t hit the shelves until September but I was allowed to listen to the album thanks to the band’s manager with whom I’ve worked with before. And the sophomore album for Lost In A Name is not a push over either for … Continue reading Lost In A Name – A Silence In Static

Godsmack – 1000hp

I’ve personally never really listened to Godsmack except for their songs “Greed” and “Voodoo”. Sue me. I’ve heard mixed comments about “1000hp” but since I’ve never had any special love or hatred for Godsmack so I practically began listening to this without really expecting anything except some hard rock. And that’s what I got. In my opinion it was amazing but it wasn’t God awful terrible either. The album compared to what little I’ve wasn’t as hard rock but it still falls under the same category. The vocals were more or less the same in my opinion though. “1000hp” seemed … Continue reading Godsmack – 1000hp

Vital Silence (band)

After listening to their only 3 songs released on the internet, this honestly sounds like one of those bands that some high school girl would possibly have a crush on. Probably not to the degree that’s been seen with fuck face Bieber. . . but I think you get the idea. They’re that good. Melodic rock isn’t really the best type in my eyes but it has its moments and Vital Silence is one of them. They have a nice flow and sound throughout their songs with the vocals that are smoother than oiled marble. The guitars balance on the … Continue reading Vital Silence (band)

Leatherneck – Medusa

I know the word “Medusa” isn’t on that cover, but trust me. . . that’s the right one. Best one I could find that didn’t look so blocky that it looked like a blind 2-year old with ADHD drew it. Anyway. . . I remember Leatherneck’s previous EP “Dust & Memories” and still listen to it to this day. So when I was messaged on Twitter by whoever manages the band’s account about “Medusa” I was pretty excited. And I was rightfully rewarded for my hopes. Leatherneck hasn’t lost their touch at all it seems. The album contains the same gritty … Continue reading Leatherneck – Medusa

Burn – You Can Do It (Now) EP

As one of the first bands I ever reviewed, I was more than excited to review another piece of work by them. It was a little nostalgic, I won’t lie, but it was very nice to hear something new from a band I haven’t heard in months. And it was a nice EP to say in the least. As a rock album is has great potential and has a really good sound. The vocals have that special tone to them that I know many rock lovers enjoy on a daily basis and will continue to once they hear this album. … Continue reading Burn – You Can Do It (Now) EP
