Hombre Malo – Persistent Murmur of Words of Wrath

I know some of you went “what the fuck” when you saw that cover because I certainly, but thankfully past this cover was an album that had both hardcore punk rock and hardcore black metal where the two seemed to have been thrown into a meat grinder and cemented together into one cohesive, brutal album that just went on and on. Now some might find that “on and on” factor to be unsavory, but those of you who can withstand sitting there and listening to each song for what they are can certainly find really good things in it that … Continue reading Hombre Malo – Persistent Murmur of Words of Wrath

Echo The Aftermath (self-titled)

While having the edgy sound that some of the musically-soft people would call metal, Echo The Aftermath does not fill the criteria for me to call them a full on metal band so I’m gonna go with hard rock, and hard rock is good nine times out of ten so there’s nothing wrong with this self-titled debut at all. The guitars are definitely those of hard rock because they have that feel of “heaviness” (put that in quotes ’cause some people would get mad if I called these guitars heavy) to them that has a really nice feel to them … Continue reading Echo The Aftermath (self-titled)

Grave Robber – Straight To Hell EP

Many people, including myself, heard Grave Robber’s fourth album “You’re All Gonna Die” and simply said “yes”. This band has become renowned by its fans as being the perfect combo of shock rock and horror metal to the point where I now refer to them as “the Elvis of horror metal”, and if you’ve heard Grave Robber before then you know exactly what I’m talking about. “Straight To Hell” doesn’t deviate from that saying at all either and that’s probably a really good thing because I think many fans became fans because of the signature sound of the vocals. The EP only … Continue reading Grave Robber – Straight To Hell EP

Thirteen (band)

Thirteen doesn’t have any full albums out yet from what I could find which makes me a little sad because the two songs from them that I could find, “Romeo Kiss” and “Time”, are both quite good hard rock songs. While personally I wouldn’t buy these songs, I have to say that they get the job done pretty well. Both have sounds to them that have a catchy sound to it that I feel many people can enjoy listening to. The one song, “Romeo Kiss”, also comes with a heavy version which I find to be much, much more appealing than … Continue reading Thirteen (band)

Wild Rose – Hit ‘N’ Run

I’ve never imagined what a mixture of Bon Jovi and Journey would sound like, but now I don’t have to because Wild Rose has done that with their upcoming third album “Hit ‘N’ Run”. Now keep in mind that while I’m not real big into this type of rock I do not mind it in the least. I’m one of those people that can easily listen to “Bad Medicine” and “Don’t Stop Believing” in a heart beat, but not very often. “Hit ‘N’ Run” incorporated many elements that (for lack of better examples) Bon Jovi and Journey used to become … Continue reading Wild Rose – Hit ‘N’ Run

Stray (sthlm) – Overnaut

Please do not ask me what the “(sthlm)” stands for because I’ve no idea in the slightest. So for today let’s just call this band Stray. Makes things easier for me and you. But anyway, Stray’s latest EP “Overnaut” is a nice piece of grunge rock and a little metal influence. There’s not a whole lot of metal going on in “Overnaut” but there’s enough for it to be a noticeable factor. The rest of it however is definitely grunge. And good grunge to say in the least. The sounds of the guitars have a real edgy sound to them that will … Continue reading Stray (sthlm) – Overnaut

Hangmore – Freak In Me (single)

Okay, I lied. Technically this isn’t a “single” since it contains more than one song, but it’s not an EP or LP. So let’s just call this a single for lack of a better word. Anyway, the two songs from this. “Freak In Me” and “We Rise”, are actually quite good. I personally prefer “Freak In Me” myself but that’s just because I like the chorus better than the one from “We Rise”. The vocals from each have a really good sound to them along with the guitars that are somewhat heavy, but the vocalist really balances them out by … Continue reading Hangmore – Freak In Me (single)

Thousand Foot Krutch – Oxygen:Inhale

The new album by Thousand Foot Krutch “Oxygen:Inhale” is a really nice and smooth hard rock album that utilizes several aspects of hard rock to their advantage. One of them is the vocals. The vocals have that usual smooth but edgy sound to them that many people including myself have fallen in love with around the world just because it’s used so often because it sounds so good. Also with them being very rhythmic and sounding great along the guitars that do awesome in the more intense songs and the softer ones like “Set Me On Fire”. As I said … Continue reading Thousand Foot Krutch – Oxygen:Inhale
