Scion A/V Presents – Red Fang

This 2-track EP is probably one of the best hard rock albums I’ve heard since Kyng’s “Burn the Serum” (fabulous). While, as you might’ve noticed, this isn’t put out by Red Fang themselves but it is made by them. And this EP is good by every single standard for “good” there is out there for every single hard rock album ever. The vocals were the smoothest thing I’ve heard for a while and they are very melodic which sounded amazing in every way along with the guitars and drums that had great sound in both tracks and made both of … Continue reading Scion A/V Presents – Red Fang

Vickie Vale – Volume 3: A Heart Out of Tune

This post-hardcore punk album is definitely one for those of you out there who enjoy your gritty punk music from a band that also has softer side in the latter half of the album. Now before you go anywhere – the second half isn’t completely soppy and sad music; it was just more prominent in the second half than in the first half. But “Volume 3: A Heart Out of Tune” was a solid album when I listened to it because it really had that emotional factor that I didn’t mind because it wasn’t really overpowering to me. The tone … Continue reading Vickie Vale – Volume 3: A Heart Out of Tune

Top 25 Albums of 2014

Just a quick disclaimer before you go down below to judge my favorites of last year: all these albums are albums that I’ve reviewed on here and they came out in 2014 of course. Now this list was made completely independently by me without any influence in the rankings other than how often I listen to the albums, and how high of quality I found them to be. No one paid me, asked me to put some bands at some places, or did any other sort of persuading. This was made at breakfast while looking through the 200+ reviews I’ve … Continue reading Top 25 Albums of 2014

Honorable Mentions of 2014

It’s New Years Eve here in America and unlike all the other metal sites, blogs, zines, etc. out there I haven’t released my top favorite albums of the year. I decided to wait until now because what if I heard an album that made me shit my pants more than some albums on the list I already presented? That’s how I look at it at least. But today I am just announcing my Honorable Mentions of the year which are the albums that were qualified for the Top 25 list but didn’t quite meet the criteria. I have 6 Honorable … Continue reading Honorable Mentions of 2014

Emergency Protocol – Silent Sounds

“Silent Sounds” is definitely not silent. Quite the opposite in a literal and emotional sense that is really prevalent. This is a post rock album that has lyrics that go down into the true emotional tortures of the soul without discrimination. Each song has an upbeat sound and tone to it because of a great job done by the guitars and drums that both dominate the album front to back. The overall rhythm of “Silent Sounds” is quite good in every single way because it’s catchy, you can listen to it easily, and the flow is solid to where I … Continue reading Emergency Protocol – Silent Sounds

AC/DC – Rock or Bust

They’re back and they’ve fucking done it again! AC/DC’s latest and possibly greatest album “Rock or Bust” came out earlier this week and it has been astounding fans who love their original work and love it even more to see that this album kind of hearkens back to the early days of this revolutionary revered band that we all know and love. This album packs AC/DC’s renowned explosive punch in their music comes at us once again with the signature vocals along with the rhythmic badassery that only AC/DC has utterly mastered beyond reason to the point where their music … Continue reading AC/DC – Rock or Bust

Polanski – Between This and Hate

Apparently there isn’t a really big grunge scene in Finland at the moment. Who knew? Not me, of course. But I found this extremely weird because . . . well Finland and the countries in that area are revered for having a massive metal community as we all know, so why isn’t there more variety like grunge? I’ll never know but this band, Polanski, is proof that Finnish people can make just about any rock and metal music and make it sound completely badass. And “Between This and Hate” is no exception to that rule at all. This entire album … Continue reading Polanski – Between This and Hate

Dead On TV – Creeper

Sometimes punk rock isn’t all raw and harsh screaming that sounds like something you’d expect the very angry people of the world to be singing. Sometimes it has actually a positive feel to it and something that will lift your spirits even if the actual meanings of the songs aren’t exactly user-friendly from time to time, that’s what Dead On TV’s newest album “Creeper” is to me. It puts a positive sounding twist on punk rock but still keeping the same “vulgarity” as other punk bands, and I know this is a fact because just look at the track list … Continue reading Dead On TV – Creeper

Timeworn – Luminescent Wake

Sometimes you don’t have to go anywhere to find interesting music. Sometimes the interesting music finds you. That’s what happened when I got an email to do Timeworn’s debut album “Luminescent Wake” that comes out on the 14th of this month. This is another hardcore punk rock album with some metal in there to give the album so more meat, but this album seemed to have more rhythm and a better sense of brutality that I found to make this style much more appealing. Don’t get me wrong, this is still a punk album so there’s still that anger and … Continue reading Timeworn – Luminescent Wake
