Gust (self titled)

I never want to hear the words “Sweden doesn’t make good metal” because that is bullshit on a scale of unimaginable proportions. Amon Amarth is one great example, and now another has come upon my radar. Gust’s self titled album, while short, has all-round amazing tracks that are hardcore and are the embodiment of the heavier of metal today if I to choose a band that isn’t well known. And that’s sad because Gust is one of those bands that deserves to be more well known along with other amazing bands like A Breach of Silence, Hate Division, and Gentrification (all of … Continue reading Gust (self titled)

Grimace – Gates of Mind

I don’t know what it is with these Northern European countries like Finland and Sweden but goddamn can they make some awesome metal! While HammerFall, Amon Amarth, and Volbeat are just three examples that immediately come to mind there are of course many many other artists out there who have amazing talent and deserve a hell of a lot more attention that what they’ve already received. Grimace is one of these unknown bands. They have an amazing sound to them that hasn’t ceased to amaze me throughout the entirety of their debut “Gates of Mind”. While I’m gonna label this … Continue reading Grimace – Gates of Mind

King Of Asgard – Karg

I’ll be honest, I’ve never really liked King Of Asgard. I like viking and folk metal (whichever these guys are) to an extent; Amon Amarth and Ensiferum on a regular basis if you want examples. King OF Asgard was always something that I didn’t listen to but it’s always been under the “Maybe” category for bands I might want to listen to in the future. I saw that they released “Karg” and it went from “Maybe” to “Why Not”. Based upon what I heard of the band before hearing this album, I feared that I wouldn’t like this because it … Continue reading King Of Asgard – Karg

MorphiuM – Cronicas de una Muerte Anunciada

For those like me who can’t read Spanish for shit, the title of the album means “Chronicles of a Death Foretold” (thank you to my friends from Spain for that accurate translation). A really interesting title, but as I should’ve guessed. . . the entire album is sung in Spanish so I’ve not a fucking clue what they’re saying. But that didn’t stop me from enjoying it. Music doesn’t have to be sung in English to be good. Amon Amarth’s “Siegreicher Marsch (Victorious March)” is a great example of this. Anyway, while those who’ve read a chunk of my reviews can tell … Continue reading MorphiuM – Cronicas de una Muerte Anunciada
