The writhing floor of the underground can oftentimes be the best place to find burgeoning talent from all corners of the underground, but it can go in either direction as we shift from one band to the next. To keep digging is to have faith that you’ll eventually come upon something that defies your expectations and stands out on an unexpected level that really delivers. Eventually, one will appear and fascination will be all that takes place. Coming upon the demo from Visteria, I couldn’t help but be intrigued.

It demands to be said that even in the worlds of thrash and punk, talent can feel few and far between depending on how jaded of a listener you are. While I find myself a tad too picky on both of those styles at times, there’s nothing that compare to finding a new work that blends the two together in a competent form without being overly polished or strive to be far more than what it can be in the light of straightforward intensity. Raw in every given facet that it has to offer and never once searching for a path of mercy or forgiveness, Visteria delivers an unhinged but nonetheless focused array of fury that lends magnificently to the fact that this is but a demo. As far as I can tell, this is the first creation from Visteria, and I cannot help but feel as though this act will be quite a sight to behold given everything that’s brought forth here. Of course, there’s loads of room for improvement and tuning the sound to become precisely what Visteria wants it to be, but never once does that distract from the fact that this is an engaging listen that takes some of the best qualities of punk and thrash and manages to make them work with real, passionate rage at its core.

While this is but the first steps that Visteria has taken on its journey, I cannot help but feel optimistic given what’s been put forth here. A demo that holds a good bit of promise and is more than competent in damn near every capacity, it would appear to me that all Visteria needs is time and the will to see it done.
