As is the case for many throughout the underground, growth is something that can effortlessly make or break an act as it moves through the realm. For all intents and purposes, people tend to see growth as a band moving forward, trying new things, and refusing stagnation. There’s plenty of intrigue to be had if you happen to be really good at a particular sound, but witnessing a band challenge itself is a sight that’s not easily topped. Despite having already proved itself with its debut album four years ago, it’s now with its second effort that Dysgnostic shows us just how far it has come as a unit.
Unravelling a work such as this is one of the many treats that the underground can offer you should you find yourself in the right place at the right time. We’ve been given a litany of different acts attacking the genre from all sorts of different angles as we’ve seen technical death metal rise in popularity over the years, but it’s because of creations like “End Whispers” that we just cannot help but keep coming back for more. Once again pulling from their vast collective experience in loads of other bands but never once failing to make their own mark with this material, it’s along every step of the way that we bear witness to Dysgnostic deliver a fiery performance of the sort that is scalding to both skin and soul. The apocalypse itself has a part to play throughout the whole of this record. Invoking the earth itself to crack open to allow lava plumes to envelop the world in toxic gas, noxious darkness, and suffocating heat heretofore unknown to man, the caustic musicianship of “End Whispers” never once holds anything back! A terrifying display of technical prowess that’s as unrelenting as it is jagged, we’re constantly bathing in a creation that is always on the move, knows precisely how to keep its listener on the edge of their seat, and commands desolation of a sort that only the most uncompromising of this genre can ever truly wield.
It takes several spins of “End Whispers” in order to truly uncover all the dark secrets that are woven throughout the dense tapestry, yet to comb through such a richly detailed effort is more than worth it. Dysgnostic has done far more than merely offer us a worthy follow-up to their debut. Rather, it’s through obvious mastery of the craft that we are able to watch a singularly intimidating piece of the genre unfold to be something that’s bold, audacious, and downright exhilarating to dig through.
