Out of all the elements that go into the vastness of what music has to offer, growth is one that I, personally, value amongst damn near everything else. It’s one thing to remain consistent in some form or another, but in order to become more in tune with your craft then it is necessary for you to become one with your sound and constantly push yourself to embody it more with each subsequent release. For some, that can be quite difficult. For others like Profaned, it seems to come naturally.
Five years ago, Profaned already demonstrated an understanding of heavy metal itself in a way that still tends to elude many who seek to channel the sound for what it can still become in the right hands. The genre can still deliver performances that are downright electrifying, but it is only on rare occasions anymore that we’re treated to creations that are able to even begin to tap into that magnificent potential that has long made the genre one to respect. Building off of everything they threw down in their initial work, it’s here with their first full-length album, “The Human Condition”, that we bear witness to Profaned not just seizing its destiny, but demonstrating to all that they could very well be one of many future embodiments of what it means to deliver true, uncompromising heavy metal. From beginning to end, “The Human Condition” stands tall as a performance that allows us to experience that vast range of capacity that Profaned already boasts with riffs, ballads, tremendous melody, and fiery prose to deliver unto us a captivating listen that is an absolute treasure for the adventurous listener. Each track here as a distinguished identity, and it demands to be made clear how powerful Profaned is in every single one of them. While more than a little far from the pinnacle of what newer names to heavy metal can deliver, there’s no way to ignore the sheer magnitude, flavor, variety, nor power that Profaned presents throughout this performance.
Personally, the future of heavy metal itself has never really been in doubt as I believe that there are more than enough passionate acts out there that can more than competently carry the torch as old legends pass and new eras come before us. Bands like Profaned have continuously showed us time and again how much more the genre still has to offer us with performances like “The Human Condition” an absolute delight to listen to as it returns us to the days of when we were first discovering the genre.
