When submerging yourself in the realms of the vast underground, it is only inevitable that there are plenty of bands out there that still to sound awfully similar for one reason or another. It’s only natural given that there are only so many different sounds and ideas to go around, but when the right circumstances are met and the right hands are brought into the equation, even the most trodden of sounds can sound fresh and invigorating. As one such fortunate anomaly, Invultation has made itself known as a force not to be denied with its forthcoming effort one of truly devilish proportions.
In this particular corner of the underground where black and death metal intersect, there are many different elements at play that can easily make or break a sound that has become as well worn as this. Through many different avenues, we’ve experienced many different hellish experiences that teeter on the line of uninspired mimicry to wild explorations into hellscapes heretofore unheard of. Invultation may not be the first name that comes to mind when taking into consideration bands that revolutionize what black-death metal can still be, yet it’s through being undeniably effective and efficient at its diabolical craft that Invultation has been a force to be reckoned with as we can see plainly throughout the entirety of “Inferno Descends”. Fiery and downright malicious in every sense, the Invultation shows us yet again taht they’re a force of the underground that does not hold back, takes no prisoners, and ensures that your very spirit is left utterly eviscerated by the chaos on full display. Deepening its conenction to its more bestial aspects that allow “Inferno Descends” to take on a far more menacing and horrific visage, it’s here that Invultation offers us what’s arguably its most focused but nonetheless dangerous state to date.
Progression into terror is not always as intense nor as transformative as many of us would like and while what Invultation has accomplished is not wildly different from what it and many others have accomplished before, it would a gross understatement to claim that what’s been put forth here does not add credence to Invultation being one of the underground’s darkest secrets. Brutalizing its listener at every turn and summoning entities that would drive mere mortals mad, “Inferno Descends” is a piece of the underground that demands and deserves both your respect and caution.
