It ought to go without saying at this point there are many bands out there that are populating the space where heaviness and psychedelic intersect. Oftentimes, it’s a place where reality is greatly distorted and twisted into something that cannot quite be likened to much else in the vast world of music, with there being plenty of bands that are constantly pushing the envelope to discover much of what the sound can bring to the table. As the years have gone on, there are those that have risen to the challenge time after time with one victory after another with Rezn absolutely being one of them. Having long been a need-to-know name in the genre, it’s here with their latest piece that they continue to push that envelope and maintain their place in the scene.
When you’ve put as much time and effort into your craft as Rezn has, it’s no wonder to see how far the band has come over the course of this nine-track work of absolute glory. Even after being around for a decade now and putting out five albums and multiple other bodies of work, you could pick any of these tracks and realize just how far Rezn has come and how far they are still determined to go. For everything summoned throughout “Cycles in the Infinite Dream”, it’s made evident that Rezn was going for something undoubtedly ethereal. Combined with their signature heaviness and psychedelic notes that permeate the whole of the work, Rezn’s aura ebbs and flows in such a form that delivers tantalizing peaks while ensuring that the valleys of their sound are just as fascinating. What we witness throughout this creation is the evolution of Rezn in real time as the atmospheres are overloaded with color, precision, and artistry of a sort that only exceptionally passionate creators of this sound can bring forward in such an overwhelming form. Rezn has been hard at work cementing their place in this genre for many years now, and it’s with the arrival of “Cycles in the Infinite Dream” that any and all doubts in regards to this band’s credentials should be utterly quashed.
Time and effort does not always automatically equate success. It’s absolutely the key factors to success if you hope to stand out in the dense thicket that is the underground, but you still require much more should you hope to not just gain a solid footing but grow into something whose presence is undeniable. In no small form, Rezn has accomplished that revered feat many times over. If it wasn’t already obvious that “Cycles in the Infinite Dream” was destined for greatness purely due to those crafting it then any given piece of the album should be enough to convince you.
